You will never forget the first time you touched down with Governors’ Aviation on to one of the Masai Mara airstrips. After an alluring 55-minute flight from Wilson Airport in Nairobi, the air strip comes into view. A herd of zebras nibble casually on the grass in the distance, completely unperturbed by your imminent arrival.
Within seconds, the aircraft starts to descend and lands on the runway. It comes to a standstill in front of a small thatched ‘terminal’ and you wait for the propellers to stop and the doors to open. The steps are lowered from the plane and a warm breeze fills the cabin with the unmistakable smell of the African bush; a mixture of the grasses, wild animals and imminent adventure!
You are warmly greeted by your driver and safari guide and receive a cooling drink and a hot towel. Your bags are loaded onto the safari vehicle and it’s time to jump into the game viewing vehicle and head to camp, where the adventure really begins.
Governors’ Aviation was established back in the 1980’s and initiated the earliest flying safaris to the world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve. The fleet of aircraft has expanded over the years and the quality, consistency and the highest levels of professionalism, for all our guests, has been maintained.
The Masai Mara is home to four of our seven properties, Governors’ Camp, Little Governors’ Camp, Il Moran Camp and Governors’ Private Camp. To visit these camps and to book your flights with Governors’ Aviation, please get in touch with our reservations team.
