Packing for a difference

If you’re visiting us and would like to make a donation that could make a big difference to a child, local community or school, we would be delighted to help you get involved.

How It Works

Governors’ Camp Collection proudly supports nine schools and a community center through our Children in the Wilderness program:

In the Masai Mara

  • Mara Rianda Primary School (Located 30 minutes away from our camps and can be visited by our guests)
  • Enkereri Primary School
  • Margaret Kenyatta Primary School
  • Irbaan Primary School
  • Kisaruni Girls Secondary School
  • Kisaruni Boys Secondary School

In the Great Rift Valley

In Laikipia

  • Suguta Mugie Primary School (located 15 minutes away from Governors’ Mugie House and can be visited by our guests)
  • Luoniek Secondary School

Help sponsor a child through secondary school:

It costs USD900 for a day pupil and USD1500 for a boarder for their final three final years of schooling. This amount covers their tuition, food, uniform, books, stationery, transport and other personal supplies.

We welcome donations of any size as we can pool resources from multiple donors to ensure that each child who is accepted into the bursary program will be financially covered for the full three years.

Primary schooling in Kenya is largely accessible as it is government funded, but unfortunately, the final three years are at the expense of the family, which means that many children are forced to drop out early; this can result in a host of negative outcomes for the child, including early marriage, teen pregnancies, lack of job opportunities and falling into bad habits such as drug and alcohol abuse.
