On the 23rd of September 2020 we facilitated our 5th Masai Mara community support event. This time we were able to provide food parcels to 200 families in the one morning which was fantastic to say the least!
We began at dawn as usual as our team headed to Aitong town and began loading up the various supplies onto the lorry. We are very grateful for the support given to us by our camp manager Patrick Reynolds and his operations team that enabled us to use the supply truck in order that we could load all 6.8 tonnes of food plus 200 bars of soap in one go!
We began at the Aitong Discovery Center for the first 50 families. We then headed on towards Mara Rianda town and arrived at our next distribution site where 150 ladies were waiting for us.
Bishop David was on hand as always to help with delegating tasks and overseeing the offloading of the supplies. Many of the ladies got involved with helping us to lay out all of the supplies. As the saying goes, ‘Many hands make light work’.
Within a relatively short period of time, all of the parcels were ready. The ladies once again kindly presented us with a huge assortment of beaded jewellery as a token of their appreciation for the food support just before we began the distribution.
The recipients were extremely appreciative for this help, which for eighty of the ladies was their fourth consecutive month worth of food, and for the others was their second month of support.
As always they asked us to pass on their deepest gratitude to the donors of the Chairman’s Foundation (via the Wilderness Trust) who provided the bulk of these supplies along with the Mara Rianda Charitable Trust and individual donors.
We hope that we will be able to supply one further month of support to 120 of these families. If you would like to make a donation, however big or small, you can do so via this secure online PAYMENT LINK.
Ashe Oleng! Thank you all so much.
